S1028 - Deactivated WWII US M1 Garand Rifle - Springfield

The US Calibre .30 M1 Garand, was the first standard semi-automatic rifle to be issued to armed forces in the World. It was to replace the bolt-action M1903 Springfield as the standard US battle rifle. Called "the greatest battle implement ever devised" by General George S. Patton, it was to give US troops an advantage in firefights over Axis forces using slower bolt action rifles.

This is a WWII manufactured gun, made by Springfield. Deactivated to current UK specifications, the serial number and the Springfield made barrel, date the gun to late 1944. With an early milled trigger group, and locking bar sights, the gun is in overall good condition, with the usual service wear to the blue in the metal parts and wood work. The gun partially field strips but does not dry fire. A nice example.
