A good condition WW1 dated P1907 bayonet for the standard British rifle, the SMLE. The 18 inch sword bayonet was almost as infamous as the German butcher-bayonets. The blade is in very good condition with no pitting or rust, it has the crown acceptance mark and an issue date of ’16 for 1916. A second date of ’18 probably indicates when it was reissued by the armourer. The woodwork is also in good condition with no splitting or cracks, the owner has carved his name or initials “Mo” into the woodwork. The bayonet comes complete with its scabbard with both the leather and steel components in good strong condition. An excellent complement for any good WW1 SMLE.
