Description
Second Pattern Luftwaffe dagger by SMF (Stocker & Co.), Solingen. The dagger measures approximately 425 mm with the scabbard and has a 260 mm nickel-plated magnetic steel blade. The blade remains bright with good cross-graining visible, a sharp tip, and only light surface scratches consistent with normal drawing and sheathing.
The reverse ricasso is maker marked with the SMF Solingen logo featuring the king holding an upward-pointing sword. Aluminum hilt fittings, including the pommel and Luftwaffe eagle crossguard, remain crisp with only light handling wear.
The pumpkin-coloured celluloid grip is in very good condition overall with ten intact rows of wire wrap and only light signs of handling.
The silvered metal scabbard measures 297 mm and retains its pebbled finish, oak-leaf suspension bands and ball finial. It remains free from dents, though there is some silvering wear exposing the base metal in places.
Overall condition is near extremely fine. A fine quality piece.
