Description

Large WWII German army map of the Aachen area on the German Belgian border. The map is 1941 dated and is marked 2.Sonderausgabe VII 1941, Blatt No 35 at 1;40,000 scale. The map is large at 100×70 cm and features the city of Aachen, with the Gemmenich district in colour.

The area shown on the map was to see significant fighting by US and German forces during the battle of Aachen in October 1944. The city had been incorporated into the Siegfried Line, and stubborn German resistance lead to this becoming one of the largest urban battles fought by US forces in the second World War, with both sides receiving heavy casualties before the eventual German surrender.

This is a large map is in very good condition with no rips or repairs.
