Description

Designed to give protection to the head, neck, face and hands, the Anti-Flash gear was adopted by the Royal Navy after the Battle of Jutland to provide protection from the short duration flame and heat exposure, suffered by Royal Navy gunners and personnel from burning cordite. Often coated with Boric acid to act as a flame retardant.
This is an excellent, near mint pair of un-issued Royal Navy mittens. They are very clean white, complete with joining strap, with clear 1943 date and manufacturers stamp to the inside.
