Description

Standard issue WWII German 6×30 power binoculars, complete with original leather strap. The binoculars are a light weight pair, manufactured from tooled aluminium alloy with molded black Bakelite fittings.

They are from a rarely encountered manufacturer, F A Wohler, Kassel, with the maker code clb, impressed on the left ocular.

The right ocular end, body panel is well marked with the impressed designation, “Dienstglas 6 x 30”. The marking “Dienstglas” meaning service glasses, was introduced in the late 1930s, and they also have the serial number, “30531” and H/6400 optics code.

The individual focus adjustments still function and lens bodies and end pieces retain most of their painted, ordnance tan, finish. They have both molded bakelite eye sockets intact and the focus adjustment still functions. The optics are in reasonable condition and like a lot of wartime optics could do with a clean.

A very decent lightweight pair from a hard to find maker.
