Description

A fantastic rare M38 German paratroop helmet with subtle camouflage paint.

The helmet was manufactured quite early in the war, towards the end of 1940 / early 1941 so could of been used by all the major engagements fought by the Fallschirmjäger in WW2.

The rim has been stamped ET68, for size 68 by Eisenhuttenwerk, Thale with batch number 176. Other M38 helmets have been observed with this batch number.
It is complete with nearly all its dark green, smooth, factory applied paint. It also has applied some fantastic camouflage paint in a subtle dark brick red and light green, which was seen quite often towards the end of the war in North Western Europe. This camouflage paint is 100% original to the period. It has slight scuffing to the paint surface from period usage, expected with a combat helmet of this age.

The helmet has it’s Luftwaffe decal applied to the left hand side, which although has worn is mostly still in place.
The inner side also has it’s dome stamp.

It is complete with all four standard spanner bolts.
The centre part of the liner has been torn away leaving just the outer section still attached to the zinc liner band. The zinc liner band is strong with some discolouration and is tight to the shell. The outer charcoal neoprene pads are still in place and very stiff as to be expected. The centre pads are now missing, with an outline to the paint where they were in place.

The grey leather harness has been replaced by a collector for display and is not original to the helmet.

Original M38 Fallschirmjäger helmets are now very hard to find and expensive. This is a great opportunity to get an original with camo paint at a fraction of the price some dealers are now charging.
