Description
Original WWII German MG34 Spare Barrel Carrier – Laufschützer 34, “brc 43”
Blued Black Steel – Waffenamt Stamped – Russian Capture with Postwar Strap
A very good and original example of the WWII German MG34 spare barrel carrier, officially designated Laufschützer 34, used to carry a quick-change barrel for the MG34 and MG42 machine guns.
As per German military regulations, machine gun barrels were to be changed after around 150 rounds of continuous fire to prevent overheating. MG teams were typically issued one or more of these carriers as part of their standard support kit.
This example is a wartime-produced, fully authentic piece, featuring:
-
Maker code “brc” for Fritz Weber & Co., Metallwaren- und Laternenfabrik, Berlin
-
Clear date stamp “43” (1943)
-
Original blued black steel finish, showing honest wear with light patina
-
Fully functional hinged lid and latch mechanism
-
Waffenamt acceptance stamp, confirming official German military issue
-
Postwar Russian capture strap – a common field modification when German equipment was reused after the war
These carriers were issued with both MG34 and MG42 crews, but this variant is correct for the MG34, known for its earlier widespread deployment.
Key Features:
-
Authentic WWII German manufacture – “brc 43”
-
Waffenamt WaA647 stamped
-
Original blued black finish
-
Russian capture strap (postwar addition)
-
Good mechanical condition – great for display or reenactment use
A scarce and complete example of wartime German field gear, enhanced by the presence of correct markings and original features. These barrel carriers are becoming increasingly hard to find.
