Description
The M31 Zeltbahn was a standard issue item for all EM/NCO German personnel. It was had multiple uses with it’s basic function as a protective rain poncho that could be combined with other zeltbahns for use as a tent in multiple sizes or as a groundsheet.
The Waffen SS had their own distinct set of patterns and many of them were made in a variety of colour schemes. The Oak Leaf pattern (Eichenlaubmuster) was introduced in 1941 and used for several items including smocks, parkas, helmet covers and uniforms. It was widely used until the end of the war.
This zeltbahn has the usual wear and tear expected for a piece of field gear / combat clothing. It has the Autumn colours to one side and the spring colour to the reverse. The colours are still strong, but with slight fading to the spring side due to wear. There are some small areas with a dark staining in areas, but nothing noticeable. It is also RB numbered to the autumn side.
All zinc grommets are complete and there are no field repairs. The are 2 very small holes in the material – please see pictures.
A good representative example.
