WWII German Waffenmeister weapons toolkit (Waffen Werkzeugtasche)
To enable the servicing, maintenance and repair of weapons, all infantry units were assigned a Waffenmeister , a weapons maintenance sergeant. They would be equipped with a specific set of tools enabling them to perform field maintenance on all the basic Infantry weapons.
The steel case, Patronenkasten 41, is finished original paint and is 1943 dated and Waffenamt stamped with maker code eoz.
The internal toolkit itself is complete and in great condition. It is hinged and so can open up flat by use of internal hinges. The top edge of sleeve insert has two heavy wire swivel carrying and extracting handles, with with clips on the inside to secure the tools in place. It is complete with a centre removal set of draws that include additional tools.
The kit has a complete set of tools, including, a vernier, hammer, spanners, files, pliers files. All the main large tools in the toolkit are maker marked, from a variety of maker with some Waffenamt stamps.
