WWII German Luftwaffe Waffenmeister weapons toolkit (Waffen Werkzeugtasche)
To enable the servicing, maintenance and repair of weapons, all infantry units were assigned a Waffenmeister , a weapons maintenance sergeant. They would be equpped with a specific set of tools enabling them to perform field maintenance on all the basic Infantry weapons.
This is an excellent rare cased Luftwaffe example.
The steel case, Patronenkasten 41, is finished original Luftwaffe blue paint. It is 1943 dated and Waffenamt stamped with white painted number.
The internal toolkit itself is all complete and in excellent condition. It is hinged and so can open up flat by use of internal hinges. The top edge of sleeve insert has two heavy wire swivel carrying and extracting handles, with with clips on the inside to secure the tools in place. It is complete with a centre removal set of draws that include additional tools. Finished in a red oxide primer, with it’s original blue paint. The toolkit is maker coded brb (Richard Rinker, Menden) with a waffenamt stamp 88.
The kit has a complete set of tools, including, a vernier, hammer, spanners, files, pliers files. All the main large tools in the toolkit are maker marked, from a variety of maker with some Waffenamt stamps.
A rare and desirable set.
