Description
Original and Authentic SS Combat Helmet – F.W. Quist Q66
A fine and unquestionably authentic example of a wartime SS combat helmet.
This helmet retains the majority of its original mid-war dark green paint, exhibiting natural field wear consistent with front-line use. The right side displays the classic SS decal—correct Quist (Q) pattern—which remains largely intact and well-preserved. All three liner rivets are present, tight, and untouched, confirming its original factory assembly.
The leather liner is in very good condition, showing a slight sheen from appropriate preservation oiling. A partial section of the original chinstrap remains attached to one bale—further testament to its service life.
Maker marked by F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H., Esslingen, with a shell size of Q66 and liner size 59. The batch number is faintly struck, with a possible DN or T prefix.
To support the helmet’s authenticity, I have included high-resolution close-up images of the decal taken with a USB microscope, clearly showing the pulver (metal flake content) and correct decal layering, as expected on a genuine wartime SS helmet.
This helmet shows honest combat use, with expected scuffs and surface wear, yet remains a solid, historically significant piece.
As with all my German helmets, I guarantee the originality of this piece and offer a lifetime guarantee with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) to the buyer.
A superb, increasingly rare, combat-used SS helmet—ideal for the serious collector seeking an honest and fully verified original.
