An excellent original example of the WWII German MG34 spare barrel carrier, officially designated Laufschützer 34, designed to carry a quick-change barrel for the MG34 and MG42 machine guns.
According to German military regulations, MG barrels were to be replaced after approximately 150 rounds of continuous fire to avoid overheating. Every MG team was equipped with one or more of these carriers as part of their field equipment.
