Description

Original WWII MG34 gunner’s tool pouch, maker-coded gyb and dated 1941, with a clear Waffenamt stamp. The gyb code indicates it was manufactured by Bauer, Wilhelm, Friedr., G.m.b.H., Lederwarenfabrik (leather goods factory) in Offenbach am Main-Bieber, Hesse, Germany.

This pouch was designed to carry essential tools and spare parts for maintaining the MG34 in the field, replacing the bulkier tool kits of earlier machine gun models. With the introduction of the MG42, the internal layout was adapted to accommodate both MG34 and MG42 Kreiskorn (spider sights).

This example retains the internal leather strap and spring for the ruptured case remover. Note: the original riveted wooden Kreiskorn/sight holder is not present.

Constructed of blackened leather with a fold-over flap, vertical leather closure strap, and steel stud closure. The leather is in good condition, and the fastening strap, belt loops, and fold-over flap remain strong.

A solid example in very good condition, ideal for display or field gear restoration. An increasingly hard-to-find and historically important piece for serious collectors of German WWII militaria.
